Christmas in Atlanta!

We had a wonderful time in Atlanta celebrating Christmas with Nana & Papa Sweet, Uncle Nate, Aunt Melissa and cousins Selah, Shiloh and Levi! Nana designed and handmade the girls these adorable capes and hats for this winter - they each had their own color and was sized just for them! On Christmas Eve we took the girls to Build a Bear where they each got to pick out their own stuffed animal and have it made for them - a gift from Nana and Papa. Our good friends Jan & Mark Johnston (from MI) bought the girls little outfits for their bear/bunnies. We attempted to get photos of each of these items. It was pretty funny. Enjoy the video below!

Merry Christmas!

Last weekend we took Lucy to Southdale Mall for a little shopping. We figured, why not stop by and see Santa?! We waited in a pretty long line. When we got to the top, Lucy wasn't aware that she was going to be sitting on Santa's lap. As John brought her to Santa, she went ballistic! After not being able to get any good shots...they suggested that we get in the picture with her. Here is the final product! All three of us on Santa's lap. Gotta love it!

Some recent favorites...

Lucy is changing by the minute! Her latest adventures include...

1. Saying new words such as: "up", "down", "ball", "car", "all done", "hot", "wow"

2. Rocking her arms as if she is holding a baby

3. Throws her arms above her head until we say "so big!"

4. Pats her hand on the couch or chair to let you know she wants to sit there

5. Gives Duke BIG hugs where she is laying on top of him

6. Blows me kisses each morning that I drop her off at day care followed by waving bye bye

7. If I say we are going bye bye, she walks to the gate and begins to shake it!

8. Often she will find her pacifier, blanket & bunny and lead us to her crib so she can go to bed (honestly the cutest thing ever!)

9. Stands in front of the fridge looking at all the pictures and points to people she knows

10. Whispers "hot" in a low raspy voice

11. Says "wow" very exaggerated whenever something really exciting catches her eye.

12. Favorite toy is her plastic doggy that has a string around it's neck and she pulls it around the house (Duke is terrified of it!)

13. LOVES ELMO!

14. Knows where her nose and belly button is.

15. Recently started feeding herself using a fork and spoon. She no longer wants us to help her. Very independent!

Angry Pink Poodle

Happy Halloween! Our night started off a little rough. There was some melt down moments where someone did NOT want to wear her pink poodle costume. We first started by visiting the lovely IKEA store. Some might think this would be the worst part of our night, but it ended up being the highlight. After browsing the store, we headed to Mall of America. Oh yes...this was not a good idea. We joined the Carr family. Their little guy Nolan is the same age as Lucy. Who would have thought that everyone in Mpls/St. Paul would have the same idea as us!?! You could hardly walk through the isles. We lasted maybe 20 minutes before heading home. All in all, we got some great shots, and our adorable pink poodle is now fast asleep! :)

This week I decided I needed a change...so I cut off about 5 inches and went super dark! I am enjoying the new me :)

Lucy has changed SO much in this last month. She now is walking, saying a few words, dancing, full of laughter, into EVERYTHING, loves books, and turns anything into a toy. We have to watch her very closely. She will just take off and is pretty fast. I just caught her trying to climb into the bathtub!!

All turning one in 2009! It was great to see my two great friends from MI this past weekend. We were all pregnant at the same time...and now it's really fun to get the kiddos together. More MI pictures to come!

Lucy 1 year & family Photos!

Happy 1st Birthday Lucy!

Lucy and her BFF Coy Thone celebrated their 1st birthday together at Oak Hill Splash pad. We had beautiful weather, great food, and enjoyed celebrating with friends. In these pictuers you will see Lucy standing on her own. She decided she didn't want to crawl on the cement, so she just stood up and started walking! She has taken about 4 steps on her own the last couple weeks, but this we have NEVER seen! Happy Birthday to our sweet little girl!

Lucy had an Omaha birthday celebration over the first weekend in August. Grandma Nelson restored John's chair from when he was little and painted it just for Lucy. She LOVES that chair and we often catch her standing on it! Yikes! The cake was made by John's aunt Nancy. It was amazing!
